Good news is I managed to work it out. Considering the same question was unanswered on two other occasions I've written a wiki page that describes how to get this functionality working using tree configuration. http://wiki.magnolia-cms.com/display/WIKI/Link+Control+-+Open+Specific+Path Ideally, a "rootPath" configuration value should just be added to the link and uuidLink control. Would save all the additional tree configuration.
