I was curious and during the intra-mail pause, I had a look in SVN.
Now it is all clear.
I would like to suggest a "blended" approach:
I really like to enable different locales per site.
So, site.geti18n() will return an Collection of locales and then look in
URI (old way) to discover the one selected by the user.
In this case I can support both the approaches.
If needed, I can provide my own customization of this behaviour,
MultiSiteI18NContentSupport.java
I18nSite.java

PS: for us is important to have only 1 tree for multisite content is
almost mandatory... or at least, be flexible to manage small sites in
this way and large sites using different trees, one-per-language.
