you might need to get sources from svn and recompile if you want to run it against 4.x. If you have any issues, please open a support ticket. BTW since 4.3.1 you can retrieve paragraphs directly by creating url pointing to given para rather then to the whole page. That might be enough to render specific piece of content from within a portlet, no?
