Hi Alex,

I'm not surprised you're overwhelmed if your first experience of Magnolia is
trying to build that page into a template! It's quite a complicated one to
setup, and normally it would be better to get some experience on some
simpler pages before takling something like this. If there are inner content
pages then they might be a worth trying first, as homepages always tend to
be more complex.

That said, the process I go through to convert a flat html page into a a
template may help you - the trick is to tackle it in bite-size chunks:

   - First setup a template with the entire source of the page - this gives
you a chance to make sure css/js includes and image paths are all working ok
before you start chopping things up.
   - Then take one section of the page, e.g. the main quote in the center of
your page, chop out the html and replace it with an editable block. You will
then need to setup a paragraph type with the appropriate formatting and
   editing options.
   - Once that is working you can move on to other parts of the page, e.g.
   the TV Listings image.
   - The carousel will be a bit more tricky, but if you have a paragraph for
each carousel item with included 'edit' bars, and then the 'new' bar after
the component, that should give the nicest editing environment. You will
need to create paragraphs for each type of content that might appear in the
carousel, so again start with the easy text/image ones first before tackling
   the video content.

I hope that helps you get started,

Simon
