Hi Jan, thanks for taking the time to respond, it's well appreciated. My tree is the JCRAdminTree class, the default that is being used for the JCR Browser. I've added the MGNL_NODE_DATA and it doesn't change anything. I do see node data for all other nodes.
It looks like any node with a : in it's name, eg jcr: mgnl: are hidden, and I am looking in the wrong place to unhide them. If you see meta data and all its meta data you should be able to see mgnl:template there too.
