I checked for the fckeditor.xml file inside the META-INF folder and it does exist, also it is untouched. Additionally, the issue is with only one of the instance. While the same jar file works on my dev environment, it doesn't work on my production environment. And it's the production environment where I am running into the error mentioned in the initial post. I have checked over and over again on the versions I am using for Magnolia, Jboss, and Java instances. They are the same on both my dev environment and production.
As for having to touch the original source code, I needed to extend the fckEditor to provide a few more features that does not typically come out of the box which I felt like was not possible through custom controls as you mentioned. I would be glad to see a few examples of creating the custom controls though. Any references, guidance, resources you may provide will be very helpful. Appreciate your quick response.
