Hi Will! Don't know if it's any help in your situation, but I have successfully integrated both
jquery-nivo-slider and jquery-tools-scrollable into magnolia sites. Both were fairly easy to set up. Both support infinite looping, auto-play and other nice features. Of course if you're trying to use the STK-templates directly, this won't help you...
