Since my last message, I've discovered that it's possible to flush specific entries from the cache.
I have tried to flush everything from the website entries that are protected, to the urisecurity filter in config, and the specific patterns, without success. I am pretty certain that the problem is caching since two patterns that I deleted from urisecurity are still in effect, even though I cannot see them in any of my instances any more (the changes were made in the author instance and activated since then). Has anyone else encountered urisecurity rules that are not being refreshed? Any help is much appreciated.
