Hi Leo! Yes. I have implemented a restriction by "file type" for the DMS preview tree. In this way the tree only shows images (filtered based on the extension of the document associated with the DMS node). The restriction based on template type in the website preview tree is also on my list.
Basically, just extend the "info.magnolia.cms.gui.control.Tree" (or "info.magnolia.module.dms.gui.DMSTreeControl") class and override the showNode() and hasSub() methods. Create a new tree definition, set your custom class, and then configure your uuidLink Control to browse this tree.
