Hi,
On Jun 14, 2011, at 4:01 PM, Magnolia Forums (on behalf of Dennis Rieks) wrote: Just out of interest, did you also thought about writing your own user manager or even a login module and keeping those users external as they are?
Yes, i thought about an user manager / login module. It is not mandatory for us to import all users to magnolia. Currently we are using an JAAS filter to map all external users to two different magnolia users.
We want to implement a customer portal where users can download theirs PDF files. I think we also can use JAAS to map all users to one magnolia user and write a download servlet to serve user files. But in this case i don't know how to display the list of available files. We are using jsp for templating, maybe an own taglib (something like c:forEach) may fit. The problem i see here is caching, we dont want magnolia to serve a cached directory listing of user a to user b. (but maybe this can happen even if all users are imported to magnolia?) The simple matter for importing all users and files to magnolia was just to use the already provided functionality. It is possible to use the default magnolia users (user manager) for admin users and concurrently an own user manager for external users? This could be a good way. how is your opinion regarding caching? I think this should be only a problem if all users are mapped to one user in magnolia? finally i had to question whether or not it makes sense to import so much documents into dms?
