Some things I don't understand:
- I couldn't find the template files in the file system; But the files of
the samples-addon were in /templates
Templates are served directly from STK Template repository, you can find
them in AdminCentral, on the left menu, under "Templating Kit" >
"Templates". Resources (JS / CSS) are under "Resources" repo.
- How do I apply a template to a website? Neither could I assign it on the
"Website" tab nor in the page info dialog.
In a site definition you need to assign a template to a site.
Then, be careful about template "category". For instance, at first time
of a site tree, you can only assign template with "home" for category..

- How do I distinguish the stylesheets from page1 and page2?
Each site def can have its own theme, with different css / js.
Duplicate a theme, change css and assign it in site definition to your
second site.
I know my questions are quite general but I hope you can give me some help
or orientation.
