Hi, What is the exact difference between a hot and a cold standby server (besides the price difference)? I would define a hot standby as AUTOMATICALLY switching and cold standby as MANUALLY switching.
I would like to have a COLD standby server with a slave database or automatically restoring nightly database backups. The server would be manually switched on by configuring the network ip address and should then work instantly. Is this possible?
