Hi Roland,
I’m almost sure you can achieve what you are looking for without coding, but 
need a bit more detail. Magnolia uses a flexible grid, but it is not column 
based as such. It’s a combination of the template structure, how the content is 
wrapped, media queries and a few other things. Have a look at:

This is 4.4 documentation, but the 4.5 docs should be out soon.
