What do your apps have to accomplish? Is it pretty much input - output? Then 
your needs can be covered by what Magnolia has to offer out of the box. The 
form module and data module will get you pretty far. Write a few custom model 
classes for your components and templates and you will get very far.

If you need to go even further, you can put your business logic in a servlet if 
you like. Others like to go the Blossom way. It's open source - you can do what 
you like! ;-)
