Hi,

according to these issues, support for JSR-250 annotations @PostConstruct and @PreDestroy was dropped because of bugs in the Guice support library mycila:

All of the mycila bugs mentioned in MAGNOLIA-4294 were marked as fixed and deployed in the meantime. IMHO it would be great to have @PostConstruct and @PreDestroy annotations, maybe it would be possible to have a second look at this?

Without @PostConstruct, the value of IoC in Magnolia is severly diminished, as e.g. one has to restrict oneself to constructor-dependency-injection. I also remember having had cases of subtle problems with field initialization order that required some initialization to execute post construction.

Even if Magnolia themselves don't make use of it so far, other companies certainly will have use for it in their projects (at least we would :-)

This would certainly make life a bit easier for your community!

Regards,
Jörg
