Can't really say why it happened, the version you are using is quite old and long time since not supported. As for restoring it, either you made some backup regularly (in 3.5 that would mean export the pages in jcr xml format to filesystem) so you can just reimport it back from your last backup or if you had enabled versioning on activation you might be lucky and there is a copy of the page somewhere in mgnlSystem workspace (Which you can access only via code using system context) or you don't have backup and you didn't use versioning on activation in which case I'm afraid your content is lost for good.
