hello I ran into the same issue in magnolia 4.5.8 searching for components. query results in «Tools > JCR Queries» are ordered like the JCR tree. While doing a cmsfn.search() in a page template gives me an occasional order. query language is JCR-SQL2 and ORDER BY statement seems to be ignored.
