Hi,

Somewhat related to the previous post but more generic: what is the status or
roadmap of SVG support in Magnolia regarding content 'images'?

E.g. as far as I know Magnolia controls (such as the dam control for uploading
files) have no way of checking the extension/mimetype of uploaded images.
Content managers can freely upload SVGs. However when image variations are
enabled (typically in STK implementations) this results in a broken link since
image variations do not support SVGs (which is logical since SVGs have no
variations):
<img alt="Articles"
src="/.imaging/stk/pop/extras/website/demo-project/about/extras/extras1/0/teaserImgBinary/loader.svg>
Also if a CMS such as Magnolia were to support content manageable SVGs it would
also need to support a fallback mechanism for browsers that do not (yet)
support SVGs (such as IE8). So for every SVG you upload a second non-svg
fallback image would need to be available.

For the time being: it is possible to disable the possibility for content
managers to upload .svg files altogether (in dam controls for example)?

cheers, Edgar
