Well, without having re-read all I wrote 2 years ago, have a look at how i18n 
is handled in the shop module. I personally think, it works quite well. Just 
make sure you have a mapping set up in your site definition for the path of 
your data nodes. Otherwise the multilingual controls will not know what 
languages to display.
