Hi Ryan,

Generally speaking, yes, you can just copy the instance and start it up on the
new server.
In practice, there are a few points to watch out for:
- depending on the JCR-backend you are using, you may have to copy the mysql or
other DBs as well - the 2 instances each need their own copy of the JCR database
- you may need to adjust paths in the configuration if you aren't copying to
the same location
- you need to check the file permissions to make sure the user running the new
instance can read and write everything correctly
- you might need to add/change some server settings (in particular the max
number of open file-handles (ulimit -n) if running with derby-db under linux)

Regards from Vienna,

Richard

Betreff: [magnolia-user] Moving Magnolia Site (4.5.9) To a New Server

Hello,

My company and I are new to Magnolia and we have a Magnolia site running on one
server and we need to duplicate that instance on another server. What is the
best course of action for doing this? Would you know of any documentation (I
couldn't fin any) that explains this.

Would I just download the instance from Server A, upload it to Server B and
then change some configuration settings?

-Thanks,
Ryan
