Thanks for that Tobias. I have just solved my problem today. After investigating when and how the identifierToPathConverter is called I found out that the documentation (that I link to above) is wrong. You get a path by default, and if you want a UUID you simply have to add a BaseIdentifierToPathConverter as the identifierToPathConverter. This is what I am now doing and it works.
