For people depending heavily on third party Maven repositories: I recommend running your own repository manager (Nexus, Artifactory, etc.) and setting up proxy repositories for the repositories you rely on. Of course this also has the added benefit of being able to publish your own artifacts to your own repository and sharing these artifacts between your team members (and/or teams).
