[b]Richard[/b], option 2) "copy the repositories" looks like it would be a good 
place for us to start.  But how do you copy an entire repository?  Is it just 
copying folders in the file system as is discussed in 
[url=http://documentation.magnolia-cms.com/display/DOCS/Creating+a+new+public+instance]this
 documentation[/url]?  If so, could you give specific examples of settings that 
will have to be changed once the repository is copied?

For now, we are using the embedded Derby database, which I believe is stored 
within each instance, so that doesn't have to be handled separately, correct?

[b]Matteo[/b], I found another forum post talking about setting up chains of 
Magnolia instances, where one activated into the next, as a way of propagating 
and sharing content.  Will doing this share everything?  Content, templates, 
configuration, etc.?
