Yes, definately.

If you use only nt:file and nt:unstructured nodetypes, magnolia's UI will not 
"detect" your nodes correctly and you will have trouble working with your 
content in magnolia (I think the UI simply won't display your nodes).

As a simple starting approach, export some content from magnolia (export as 
XML) and look at the resulting XML files. You will be able to see the nodetypes 
(mgnl:folder, mgnl:resource, etc...) and property names used by magnolia, and 
can then adjust your content import to use these nodetypes.

The next step is to take a look at magnolia's editing features - defining 
templates, areas and components, as well as their associated forms (dialogs). 
By defining the forms for your content model, you will be able to edit the 
content very nicely using magnolia's excellent UI.
