perhaps your product id doesn't exist on public? If you want to solve this problem you need to compare url you are redirecting to in author and in public. Are they same? If yes, then plug in your debugger and find out why that url doesn't exist on public. Perhaps you are missing some template, or page or virtual uri or ...
