the way i understood it, for a "cinditionIf" filtering, you need to actually build a filter. and for the filter to work you have to build a servlet.
if the valve needed no "conditionIf" then you could just write a valve, no need for a filter. But honestly this is more conclusions from experiments i did, rather than theory so ... let me know if you find something more ...
