As usual, I'm answering my own questions again… Either I'm asking stupid questions before having thoroughly examined the problem or my questions are too hard to be answered ;-)
I tried to reproduce this with a plain vanilla Mag 4.5. Of course this worked. So what could make the difference? Well, my 4.5 was upgraded from 4.4.9… So I guess I must have messed something up in the migration process. Let's have a look at the documentation once more: http://documentation.magnolia-cms.com/display/DEV/Security+changes+in+Magnolia+4.5 Ah… it said "Update all workspace.xml files (in your repositories folder) [b]to contain[/b] new security changes." The new access control provider has been around in 4.4.9 already. So why exactly did I _remove_ it instead of just leaving it the way it was?!
