Hi,

+1 on that. I like BitBucket.

And Stash is a really nice solution as well, very happy with that too.

Regards from Vienna,

Richard

Another option to consider would be to use BitBucket. I have pushed almost all
of the magnolia git repositories to bitbucket without any issues. Has this been
considered before?

Hi Jörg,

Of course we considered it - years ago, when we migrated to Git. Back then, it
simply did not offer the flexibility and stability we needed. We were also
always planning to mirror our repos to GitHub, which made the extra features of
GitLab&al less important. (that never happened because of the history of our
main repos, where some old huge files have been committed by accident, and
Github prevents committing files over 50mb-or-so, for good reasons)

It is definitely worth reinvestigating today, after it’s matured so much. It
has however quite some competition, among others with Atlassian’s stash. We
*are* doing exactly that.

FYI, we already have all the feature you’re mentioning below, minus the
pull/merge requests, with Gitolite, except we do expect users to have some
familiarity with the terminal. I still totally agree that something like Gitlab
would make contributions easier.

Cheers,

-greg
