I may be contradicted from other directions here - but for my part, I would say you a much better off always going with the latest version of Magnolia. We are 5.3.4 right now. There are lot of technical reasons why this is a better product than out e series - but there are good practical reasons also (Forum support etc.). We still have clients on the 4 series, but most are migrating to 5. Final word - if you are starting a new project - start with 5!
