Hi Michela,

a menu like that is usually a Magnolia component made up by a template script 
written in ftl, jsp or any templating language for which a Magnolia renderer 
exists (you can write your own, in case you need) plus some css, possibly some 
javascript and an optional Java model backing it. Have a look at our doc 
https://documentation.magnolia-cms.com/display/DOCS/My+first+template or the 
Academy http://academy.magnolia-cms.com/display/MA/C4+Templates to get an idea 
of how to achieve your goal or look into STK source code to see how it's done 
there.
