Hi, this is my personal experience about that and can be different than what I understood.
in your magnolia.properties there is the configuration location of the Jackrabbit repository. All of your repositories can be stored on filesystem or in a relational database. The default installation is on a local derby DB that is stored in your local path like this (Sorry, I do not remember exactly the repository folder name): $TOMCAT_HOME/webapps/$WEBAPP_PROJECT/repository Or something like this. The development way I found to work with magnolia is to create nodes in configuration, than perform an export of what I did at the and of my task. You can do that when you prefere.
