Ok, replacing the standard.jar and jstl.jar for the JSTL library did the
trick to make the web site appear again.

<rant>
So I am wondering how it is possible that the magnolia team can release
a 2.0.3 upgrade with the old, not-working JSTL archives in it (version
1.0.2).
</rant>

Now I end up with a web page that looks ugly and because I took the
sample code but migrated into my own set of JSP files I am somehow stuck
between a rock and a hard place because I do not know exactly what has
changed to upgrade to the new look-n-feel. Can someone explain a little
what has changed? I, personally, do expect that an upgrade within the
same major release works without any change in my data nor my JSP code
especially when the old upgrades 2.0.1 and 2.0.2 are not available
anymore.

So far I did not move my old website over to magnolia and I am not quite
sure if I should because I fear that any upgrade to a new version will
yield in such a mess. What worries me the most is how to upgrade the
repository. I do not like to copy the repository around. In addition
there is not way to export or import the repository (as far as I know)
and therefore a backup has to just zip up the repository which is not
very elegant.

OK, that error means it is now picking up JSTL 1.0 TLD definitions,
but your server is running in JSP 2.0 mode, so is seeing Expression
Language expressions, which are forbidden by the TLD you reference.
Most likely, you need to change the reference to the TLD in the top of
your JSP.
