The index.dat is the index of the search engine, Lucene. When Lucene crawls over your repository, it builds this file. If it becomes corrupted (not sure why this happens), it messes the JCR/repository up pretty bad. Removing the index.dat, then restarting Magnolia usually resolves problems (a new index.dat is built on startup).

Perhaps the devs could try to catch errors like these in runtime, and force deletion of index.dat, but I guess this is more of a Jackrabbit issue.

Edit: Bah, I can't see why I bother trying to answer these mails. Philipp is in turbo mode today :)

Hi Philipp,

okay I tried that with the index.dat file and now it works fine!
What is this index.dat file doing?

THX for the help,

Dominik

Did you any backups or exports?

- which version are you using?
- is it the website repository which makes problem (if you are lucky it's one of the others)
- try to delete the index.dat files
- if you activated your content to an other instance you could activate it back to the author instance (or copy the repository files in the file system)

But please make BACKUPS! This is very important since jackrabbit is not yet final and still can crash!

Hey list,

I had a crash while loading Magnolia and when I tried to start it the next time I get this error:

ERROR com.day.jackrabbit.fs.cq.CQFileSystem CQFileSystem.java(move:564) 05.09.2005 00:20:53 moving /_e/deleteable.new to /_e/deleteable.new failed

and so on...

the problem is, so it can't load the website repository and so, magnolia can't work.

I have a lot of important things in this repository, is there a chance to get it work? or too save the stuff in the repository?

Thx a lot,

Dominik
