Ah. gotcha. Yes, I am forced to run under windows. :-(

I guess if you're running on Windoz it doesn't matter, but on linux, you
need to log in as root, and start Tomcat as root.

Sorry, I am not sure what you mean by starting as root. I am running
tc559, and it starts as a service.

Seems like funny things happen when you don't.

Subject: Re: [magnolia-user] cache problem with rc4
My cache problem seemed to go away, but has cropped back up again.
This
time I notice that it starts when I do a page refresh from the
browser.
This is inconsistent, i.e. sometimes I can refresh without issue,
other
times I refresh and I get the blank page. Once rendered as a blank
page,
it remains blank until I "Activate" it in the the Admin Console, and
then do a refresh.
I reactivated all my pages, and it appears to be "healed" for the
moment. I will monitor this and see if I can figure out some sort of
consistent repro scenario.

I am having similar issues as have others in the group. I read some of
the threads on this, but there was never any explanation on why this
is happening. Does someone know if this is a bug, or are many of us
just doing something wrong? It seems odd to me that the "fix" would be
to turn off the cache in admin config/server/level1. Also, what should
the domain value be? Can a magnolia guru clarify this? I have it
pointing to http://localhost/magnoliaPublic, is that correct? (note
using port 80)
This is serious, I am getting ready to release the site in a couple
weeks, and I really don't want to have my client start complaining
about blank pages showing up.

Dear list,
Using a fresh install of rc4 I encounter a problem with the cache.
The first time I access an url like
http://demo.hagebutte.ch/features.html the page shows perfectly but I
get this error in the logs:
ERROR info.magnolia.cms.core.CacheHandler 25.08.2005 15:19:04 --
Failed to stream [/features.html] due to a
java.io.FileNotFoundException:
http://demo.hagebutte.ch//features.html
[...]
ERROR info.magnolia.cms.core.CacheHandler 25.08.2005 15:19:04 -- NOT
Caching uri [//features.html] due to a previous error
When I reload the page nothing is shown anymore (empty page).
The problem doesn't appear with /server/cache/level1/active=false.
Funnily enough using http://demo.hagebutte.ch/features (without
.html) it always works perfectly with cache enabled.
I use the war distribution with tomcat-5.0.27.
Regards,
Marc
