Just an update: I upgraded to JDK 1.5 (available from the Apple Dev
site) and have had no problems.
So at least from what I have seen, JDK 1.4 and JDK 1.5 both work fine
on OS X w/ Magnolia.

I have run Magnolia 2.1 (I did not try any of the RC versions)
successfully on OS X Tiger, using the download w/o Tomcat. I ran
it
under Tomcat 5.5.9. I did have to increase the default max memory
setting on Tomcat in order to get this whole bootstrapping thing
to
take place w/o crashing Tomcat (I'm pretty sure there are some
examples of what setting to change in the install docs).
Is there some specific problem you are having?
