you are right.. my magnolia_QT installation didnt have the subscriber set
up.
I have since set up the subscriber, am able to activate and deactivate the
web site including pages where i have used magnoliaQT Sound.
I noticed that I had to activate the custom templates as well as the
specific paragraphs such as magnoliaQT sound that I had used in my page for
it to work.

The magnoliaQT demo site has no subscriber set up. Probably neither has
your local installation.
The magnoliaQT might not have all the issues with activating their binary
content solved, so perhaps publishing is not possible yet (?).
