Hello again!
I finally made the thing work! On the other hand, the way I did it is
not really satisfying.
Since the bootstrapping did not work, I installed Magnolia on Tomcat,
started it up to let it do the first init, then copied magnoliaAuthor
directory over to my JBoss server. I then renamed the
log4j.properties file and restarted JBoss.
After that, Magnolia worked flawlessly. We can then conclude that
only the bootstrapping process does not work on JBoss 4.0.2.
To answer your questions, yes, the path was good, except for the
"/./", and the unpacked war was in the right deploy directory.

Maybe the JVM memory settings were too small for the bootstrap process. The Magnolia-Tomcat bundle
comes with a 512 memory setting.
Maybe this was the problem.
