Thanks for that but I think you misunderstood what I was asking.
I can get both public and author deployed on a different port number
and in a different directory .. but I can't author anything.
I obviously need to edit some magnolia config somewhere (to reflect
the changed port number and directory path) .. I just don't know
where this is.
If anyone can point me to where I can edit these settings (in a file
somewhere .. or in author) I'd be grateful.
Thanks
Simon

you should change the web.xml in */tomcat/conf/web.xml
then search for 8081 and change it
if your want to change the magnoliaPublic or magnoliaAuthor,
I think you can change the directory name if Boris Kraft not
write hard code in it.
another solution ,you can new a cfg file in /tomcat/conf/Catalia/conf/
you-want-app-name.xml
then write something on it.

Hello list
I'm reasonably new to magnolia (and Tomcat) but I'm slowly getting to
grips .. however, if anyone could help me out with the following
I'd be
grateful:
I'm running magnolia 2.1, Tomcat 5.5.9, JDK 1.5.0 and Apache
2.0.54 on
FreeBSD 2005.
For various reasons I'd like to run magnolia (public and author)
outside
the standard Tomcat webapps directory, change the port number from
8081,
and rename the two instances to say public and private.
I can get both instances deployed (via context files) .. in their
non-standard locations .. and with non- standard names .. but I
can't do
any authoring .. can't activate anything, etc
Could someone please tell me what I need to change where in order to
author?
Thank you
Simon
