As you noticed on jackrabbit issue tracker

it was a problem with filesystem implementation and only fixed for
windows OS, your best bet would be to post this
on jackrabbit issue tracker mentioning what kind of system you are using

I played with the "export tree to xml" and in the XML files
the uploaded file not any longer in the export after removal.
So it's removed from the repository but not in the
filesystem, thats my little conclusion.
