Thanks for pointing out the Jira issue. I am having the same exact
problem and noted it in the comments. Looks like a pretty nasty bug. I
noticed it when I was trying to add some configuration changes to kupu.

I am trying to create a template - I can create a content node, but when I
try to put node data under the content node - add a new one, but I cannot
change its name - it reverts back to untitled, or untitled0, etc..
