Linux wins on cost and performance. Manageability and reliability really
get done to your skillset. Linux has greater potential in these areas but
also has a steeper learning curve. Windows is more expensive and requires
more horsepower (more powerful hardware) to achieve the same performance
results, but it is also *easier* to administer and maintain. The
administration is not as robust, but it is easier. Reliability again comes
down to your skillset. If you are UNIX/LINUX savvy that is clearly the way
to go, if you have stronger Windows skills, that may be your better option.

Subject: [magnolia-user] hosting -linux vs windows

Hi
Are there any comparison on hosting magnolia cms on linux vs windows..

I am looking for numbers around
- performance
- manageability
- reliability
- cost

Initially, I am looking to host author instance on my local windows machine
and public on a web hosting provider (linux or windows).

I am looking to finalise a hosting provider and some feedback from existing
deployments would be really helpful.

thanks
Vivek
