Hi Florian
Let me ask you a shy question: Why have you selected Magnolia?
I'm sure not only for the GUI, but especially because of the underlaying
JSR 170 compliant Content Repository!
Please keep in mind that your access to the repository is simply through
the repository's API. That in fact is the main purpose for choosing a
JSR 170 compliant CMS. Your JSP's don't worry about the persistent
storage, since that's taken care of by the repository (through
configuration). All your JSP does is read the content (also binary
content like images). To store content you preferably will use the
dialogs and let the authors do that. The repository (through it's API)
offers you additional "services" (like access control, versioning,
etc.), which enhances a data source to a content repository.
Please take a little time and check out the examples provided with
Magnolia. E.g., create a new web page based on the "Magnolia: Two column
Template". Then request the page and add a new paragraph of type "Text
and Image". Once you see how authors can add images, go and look at the
according JSP. That's a simple and common way to start with.
Additionally you can use standard Java classes to do image processing,
like resizing, etc.

Yes, storing the Images in die repository would be much better! (I would prefer)

clear, but how to retrieve - show as pics, etc. ) ;)
I just want to give my authors the possiblity to use as many pics as
they want in their articles, furthermore the pics should be stored
only once.
Sure, this is a quite dirty solution, but I didn't want to write a
assetmanagement thingy just for uploading and using simple images..
I really regret other solutions!

Florian

Hi-
stupid question, as I've never used the fckeditor uploader, but why would you
want to use it?
If I read the wiki entry correctly, the images get uploaded to the file system,
not the repository...

Well, actually it is documented now ;)
(That is open source!)

Thanx! It works. But isn't it strange that it do not work
out-of-the-box,
and that it's not documented??

By default, you just can't use the Upload feature.
I've written a VERY SHORT and bad wiki-entry to utilize
the upload feature.

Hi all,
I'm trying to integrate the FCKeditor image browser/uploader into
Magnolia.
I can access the image browser through the image button of the fck
toolbar (this works fine). But then, I when I try to
create a folder,
or upload an image, nothing ever happens ... No trace, nothing!
I have both servlets/mapping in my web.xml:
-SimpleUploader
-Connector
I changed the fckconfig.js to point to the right URLs. Like it is
said
here:
http://wiki.fckeditor.net/Developer%27s_Guide/Integration/Java
Other info:
- Magnolia 2.1.3
- Tomcat 5.0.28
- JDK 1.4.2_09
Thanks guys for help!
