I followed the instructions on
http://magnolia.sourceforge.net/21/install/build.html
this is valid only for magnolia 2.1.x build
Follow http://magnolia.sourceforge.net/22/developer/mavengoals.html for
current trunk. You need maven 2 to build this
NOTE : Trunk is a development repository and its not tested in real
time, use it at your own risk

But running "maven war" does not compile/build any java classes or jar
files.
