I would like the ability to create "programming-like" functions inside of the magnolia template architecture. To help create pages that are automatically generated based on sorting groups of pages by some sort of criteria, like "latest news articles" or "alphabetical sorting" of articles on a page or in a certain level of the site tree.

You will use queries to get the data you like. Perhaps you store a flag in the Paragraphs telling the system that this is a news.

Afterward you will be able to query the system. See the delivered search example. The system is well descibed in the JCR spec (one of the last chapters)

I pretty much know the functionality I'd like to see, but the logic is still pretty murky for me. I've just recently got a handle on editing the JSPs and CSS to customize the layout, and the overall templating process, but were do I go to begin creating these more advanced templates?

Thanks for your time and ideas.

Respect,
