Hi All,

Although it is generally obvious that a database server must not ever run out of disk space, it can be easy to forget that Magnolia, with its embedded database, also has this requirement.

I just learned the hard way exactly what happens when you let a Magnolia instance run out of disk space. We hit our server's quota for a few minutes last week, had it increased as soon as possible and it seemed like everything was OK (Site continued to run, content could still be added, etc.). This afternoon I restarted that instance and none of the repositories would load due to Berkeley DB errors. Fortunately, the nightly exports were still running OK so I was able to import this morning's snapshot.

Anyway, keep an eye on your Magnolia's server's free space / quota!

Cheers,

Tom Duffey
