i'm using version 2.1.5.
my footer.jsp file in samples/global looks like:

[you can leave out any xmlns:XX declarations not needed in the file, of
course]
As far as I can say, white pages often indicate an error in an EL
expression (maybe not finding the node you passed to contentNodeName -
export the site in the backend via xml and search for the node name you
need - or more likely the datePattern is wrong). Take a look at your
catalina.out in tomcat/logs and look at the last thrown exception for
more details, maybe there is one that hints the error.
