Jason,

the modifications in your template code should be minor, so you should be
able to make them work with Magnolia 3.0. Then you have to move the template
and paragraph configuration to Magnolia 3.0. For this task you can use
XML-Export and XML-Import and the hints on my website. So if you want to
migrate only your templates and paragraphs you do not need Magnolia
Enterprise Edition or Magnolia Packager.

As I told you, the migration of the content is not so easy. But users of
Magnolia Community Edition can use the low-cost Magnolia Packager Migration
license (58 EUROS) which supports the migration as you can see on my
website.

Ralf

Thank you firstly! But now we are using Community Edition. So we don't have
the useful packager. Will it be so difficult to handle these template things
without the packager?

Jason

Jason,

concerning templates there is not so much to do. I tried with my templates
and only found some minor changes I compiled on my webpage

http://www.hirning.de/public/company/en/packager/migration/templates.html

The more difficult part is that the content structure has changed. So if you
want to reuse your existing content you have to migrate it. Magnolia
Packager which is part of Magnolia Enterprise Edition

http://www.magnolia.info/en/magnolia/products/enterprise-edition.html

supports content migration. For reference see

http://www.hirning.de/public/company/en/packager/migration/content.html

Dear Sirs,
Now we decided to use magnolia 3.0. And we have many templates that had
been made in the old version magnolia (eg, magnolia2.1.5). We want to reuse
the old templates. Could someone tell me how to make this easier? Because I
have tried to move the templates to the new magnolia3.0, and it seems I am
doing a whole new template instead. From the former version to the new
version, many things have been changed, for example the folders, the jsp and
css files.
I am looking forwards to your reply!

Thanks,
Jason
