Hi,

I want to upgrade jackrabbit in magnolia 2.1.5 for higher stability. I read in
a post from David Smith that he did so and now has success in working with
mysql. I also want to give mysql a chance but do not want to get in trouble
with the autoReconnect problem.

So my question. What do I have to do to upgrade jackrabbit?
There are 3 jackrabbit files in the current magnolia webapplication 2.1.5:
jackrabbit-1.0-20060115.155604-8.jar
jackrabbit-bdb-1.0-20060115.160157-3.jar
jackrabbit-textfilters-1.0-20060115.160640-2.jar

Do I have to replace them all with the current jackrabbit release:
jackrabbit-core-1.0.1.jar

And what is it about slf4j (David talks about). Which ones of the slf4j-jar's
do I need.

Thanks for help!
Best regards
Franz van Betteraey

Answers to your questions:

1. Jars to replace: jackrabbit-1.0-[build id].jar, jackrabbit-textfilters-1.0-[build id].jar. Don't know about jackrabbit-bdb-1.0-[build id].jar as 1.0.1 doesn't have that jar. They did incorporate the derby and generic sql persistence managers directly in jackrabbit-core-1.0.1.jar. If your goal is to use MySQL, jackrabbit-bdb-1.0-[build id].jar is not needed. It's there for the Berkley Db persistence manager.

2. slf4j is a logging facade for java. See http://www.slf4j.org for details. Also read the readme file that comes with the download so you know which slf4j jar to inclide. I believe slf4j-log4j12.jar as magnolia uses log4j version 1.2.x.
