If you want to use our persistence manager, I think you must modify the
file before bootstrapping the app ...

${magnolia}/repositories/website/workspaces/default/workspace.xml
(if you are using Magnolia 2.1), you will know why.
I had the same problem when I was trying my own persisttence manager.
