Some thoughts to consider:

1. The MySQL db size also includes all the config materials, users, user roles, and DMS data. 2. What are on the pages? Just text or text and images? 3. This may be normal for MySQL. To be honest, I never really monitored the size of the underlying db.

As to externalBLOBs and whether to set it true or false, true=store binary stuff like images, pdfs, etc., ... in the file sytsem. True stores that stuff in the db.
